<itunes:subtitle>This contemplative episode centers on John 5:31–38 in the New Living Translation (NLT). Jesus explains that John the Baptist was a “burning and shining lamp,” but that His own teachings and miracles are an even greater witness, given by the Father to show that He was sent from God.
Host Nick Oyler encourages listeners to notice the many “witnesses” to Christ’s identity in Scripture and in their own lives, and to respond with faith rather than indifference. A simple practice of inviting God into tasks helps cultivate spiritual awareness.</itunes:subtitle>

<description>In John 5:31–38 (NLT), Jesus talks about the witnesses that testify about Him—John the Baptist, His own works, and the Father Himself. Yet He tells the religious leaders that they don’t have God’s message in their hearts because they refuse to believe in the One He sent.
🎯Today, we reflect on the different ways God has testified to us about Jesus and how we are responding.

<itunes:subtitle>This contemplative Christian podcast episode focuses on Luke 5:17–26 in the New Living Translation (NLT), where friends lower a paralyzed man through a roof to get him to Jesus. Host Nick Oyler guides listeners through a gentle rhythm of slowing down, reading, noticing, meditating, and responding to the story.
We explore how Jesus sees “their faith,” forgives the man’s sins, and then heals his body—revealing His authority and compassion. The episode invites you to consider the power of intercession, spiritual friendship, and being both a carrier and a receiver of Christ’s mercy. A simple spiritual exercise helps listeners “carry someone in prayer” throughout the day.</itunes:subtitle>

<description>In this episode, we enter the story of friends who refused to let anything keep them from bringing a paralyzed man to Jesus (Luke 5:17–26, NLT). We watch them climb the roof, remove tiles, and lower their friend right in front of Jesus—and we hear how Jesus responds to their faith with forgiveness and healing.
Together, we reflect on who we might be called to carry to Jesus, and where we might need to let others carry us.

<description>When we are anxious and panicked about our situation, we want someone else to be as anxious as we are. Jesus was calm, so calm that he was asleep and when he wakes up, he calmly tells the wind to stop. His words in that moment to the disciples are what speaks to me the most, “Why are you afraid, where is your faith?” I know, there is no need to fear, my God is in control. Easier said than done, but I’m learning.

<itunes:subtitle>In this chapter, we find Paul given access to the Roman Governor, Felix. Paul is able to speak with him many times about being a Christ follower. I find it interesting that Felix was looking for a bribe from Paul but instead kept hearing more about Jesus and his way. Paul stayed in jail and kept sharing the message of Jesus. I am struck by the way that Paul continued to share the message of Jesus even when his circumstances are not good.
