Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 72 — John 5:31–38 — Testimony About Jesus

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s fantastic to be here with you today.
Today is March 13.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

Jesus is here. He’s sitting in your favorite spot, waiting for you to join Him.
You may have a million things on your mind, but for these few moments, set them aside. Relax. Calm your body.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, speak truth to me.”
As you exhale, pray: “Clear away my doubts.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

“If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid. But someone else is also testifying about me, and I assure you that everything he says about me is true. In fact, you sent investigators to listen to John the Baptist, and his testimony about me was true. Of course, I have no need of human witnesses, but I say these things so you might be saved. John was like a burning and shining lamp, and you were excited for a while about his message. But I have a greater witness than John—my teachings and my miracles. The Father gave me these works to accomplish, and they prove that he sent me. And the Father who sent me has testified about me himself. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face, and you do not have his message in your hearts, because you do not believe me—the one he sent to you.  (John 5:31–38, NLT)

Notice

What phrase or image stands out?
“Burning and shining lamp”? “Greater witness than John”? “You do not have his message in your hearts”?
Hold that phrase with the Lord.

Reread

Hear Jesus list the witnesses—John, His works, and the Father Himself—pointing to who He is.

Meditate

Jesus points to multiple testimonies about Himself. John the Baptist was a “burning and shining lamp,” and for a time, people were excited about his message. But Jesus says there is an even greater witness: His own works—His teachings and miracles—which the Father gave Him to accomplish.
Ultimately, the Father Himself testifies about the Son. Yet Jesus tells the leaders that they don’t have God’s message in their hearts, because they refuse to believe in the One He sent.
Faith isn’t just about information; it’s about receiving God’s message into our hearts by trusting Jesus.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where have I seen “witnesses” to who Jesus is—in Scripture, in my story, or in others—and how am I responding to them?

Respond

Jesus, thank You for the many ways the Father points to You—through John, through Scripture, through Your works, and through my own story.
Help me not just to know about these witnesses, but to respond with real trust in You.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Invite God In Before You Begin
Today, before you start a significant task—work, a project, or a responsibility—pause and pray:
“Father, I invite You into this. Help me do it with You, not just for You.”
Let that short prayer shift your awareness as you work.

That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
