Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and I’m stoked to be here with you today. Today is March 2.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you.
Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, I’m listening.”
As you exhale, pray: “Clear away every distraction.”
Do this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.
Read
One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby. (It seemed that these men showed up from every village in all Galilee and Judea, as well as from Jerusalem.) And the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus.
Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a sleeping mat. They tried to take him inside to Jesus, but they couldn’t reach him because of the crowd. So they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.”
But the Pharisees and teachers of religious law said to themselves, “Who does he think he is? That’s blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!”
Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts? Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’? So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God. Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!” (Luke 5:17–26, NLT)
Notice
What captures your attention in this story?
Is it the crowded house, the determined friends, the open roof, or the man walking home praising God?
Notice what stirs in you, and hold it before the Lord.
Reread
In your imagination, see the scene again—friends climbing, tiles being removed, a man lowered right in front of Jesus.
Meditate
The house is packed. There’s no room left at the door, no easy path to Jesus. Most people would see a barrier and turn back. But this group of friends sees an obstacle and looks for another way.
Their love is creative. Their faith is persistent. They are willing to interrupt, to inconvenience themselves, even to dismantle a roof, just to bring their friend into the presence of Jesus.
Luke says that Jesus saw their faith. Not just the faith of the paralyzed man, but the faith of his friends. Their trust in Jesus becomes a channel through which forgiveness and healing flow.
Again, Jesus addresses the deepest need first: “Young man, your sins are forgiven.” The religious leaders are offended, but Jesus is revealing His authority to forgive sin and restore lives. Then He speaks the words: “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” And immediately, the man does what once seemed impossible.
Maybe you can relate to the paralyzed man—feeling stuck, unable to move forward, not sure how to get to Jesus on your own.
Or perhaps today, you are called to be one of the friends—to carry someone else in prayer, love, and practical support when they can’t carry themselves.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Who is Jesus inviting me to carry to Him in faith—or where do I need to let others carry me?
Respond
Jesus, thank You for the gift of community and faith.
Show me who I can carry to You today, and give me courage to be honest when I need to be carried.
Thank You that You still forgive, still heal, and still amaze us.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Carry Someone in Prayer
Today, choose one person who is struggling—physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
Write their name somewhere you’ll see it, or set a reminder on your phone.
Each time you notice it, pause and pray: “Jesus, I bring them to You. Do what only You can do.”
If it’s appropriate, send a short message letting them know you’re praying for them today.
If you’ve made it this far in the episode, I’m guessing this time with Jesus matters to you.
One of the best ways you can partner with this ministry is by leaving a rating and review in Apple Podcasts. It doesn’t take long, but it tells Apple to show this daily devotional podcast to more people.
Just tap the stars, and if you have a moment, share one sentence about how 2 Minute Disciple has helped you.
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
