Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s an honor to be here today.
Today is March 1.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you.
Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Jesus, I trust Your authority.”
As you exhale, pray: “Forgive and heal me.”
Do this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.
Read
Jesus climbed into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town. Some people brought to him a paralyzed man on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child! Your sins are forgiven.”
But some of the teachers of religious law said to themselves, “That’s blasphemy! Does he think he’s God?”
Jesus knew* what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you have such evil thoughts in your hearts? Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’? So I will prove to you that the Son of Man* has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
And the man jumped up and went home! Fear swept through the crowd as they saw this happen. And they praised God for giving humans such authority. (Matthew 9:1–8, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear the passage again slowly, picturing the moment the man stands up and walks home.
Meditate
The friends who carried this man to Jesus weren’t just hoping for physical healing — they were bringing him to the One who could meet his deepest need.
Jesus’ first words to the man are unexpected: “Your sins are forgiven.” Before addressing his paralysis, Jesus restores his soul. This shocks the religious leaders, because forgiveness is God’s domain — and in that moment, Jesus reveals His divine authority.
Then, with the same authority, He speaks healing to the man’s body. The crowd watches in awe as he stands, picks up his mat, and walks home. Forgiveness and healing flow from the same heart of compassion and power.
We often come to Jesus with surface needs, but He sees the deeper wounds — the ones no one else notices — and He heals those too.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where do I need to trust Jesus’ authority to forgive and heal me today?
Respond
Lord, I trust Your authority over my life. Forgive my sins and heal my heart.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Coloring
Coloring is a simple, creative way to relax and connect with God.
It slows your mind, focuses your attention, and opens space for prayer and reflection.
I’ve provided a Scripture verse coloring sheet you can download from the podcast page for this episode. The verse is Ephesians 4:32
“Be kind and compassionate to one another.”
As you color, think about how this verse applies to your life today.
Let each stroke of color be a prayer — asking God to fill your actions, words, and thoughts with His love.
The goal is to create something beautiful that helps you meditate on God’s Word and carry it into your day.
Before you go, I have a simple favor to ask.
If 2 Minute Disciple has encouraged you, would you follow the podcast and leave a quick rating and review on Apple Podcasts?
Those few taps make a big difference in helping others discover a short, daily devotional they can stick with.
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
