Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s amazing to be here with you today.
Today is May 31.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
Jesus is here.
He’s sitting in your favorite spot, waiting for you to join Him.
You have a million things on your mind that need your attention, but right now it’s time to be with Jesus.
Set those things aside, relax, and calm your body.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, You send me.”
As you exhale, pray: “I go in Your name — not my own.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.
Read.
Jesus sent out the twelve apostles with these instructions: “Don’t go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans, but only to the people of Israel—God’s lost sheep. Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
“Don’t take any money in your money belts—no gold, silver, or even copper coins. Don’t carry a traveler’s bag with a change of clothes and sandals or even a walking stick. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve to be fed.(Matthew 10:5–10, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear these instructions again — and notice what Jesus gives the disciples before He sends them, and what He tells them to leave behind.
Meditate
Before Jesus sends the twelve out, He gives them something: authority. Authority over unclean spirits. Authority to heal every disease and sickness. They are not going in their own name or by their own power - they are going as representatives of the One who has all authority in heaven and on earth. That is the foundation of the entire mission.
And then He tells them what not to bring. No gold. No silver. No copper. No extra bag, no extra shirt, no sandals, no walking stick.
Travel light. Depend on what God provides through the people you are serving.
This is deeply counterintuitive. We tend to believe that better resources produce better results - that if we just had more money, more time, more preparation, more impressive credentials, we could do more for God. Jesus sends His disciples out with the opposite conviction: the mission doesn't run on your resources. It runs on His authority. And the instruction to travel light is not an oversight - it is a lesson in dependence that He wants them to learn in their bones.
The worker deserves to be fed. God will provide through the mission itself. But only if you go — and only if you go trusting Him rather than your own supply.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Am I holding back from something Jesus is calling me to because I don't feel sufficiently resourced — when He may be asking me simply to go and trust Him to provide?
Respond
Jesus, You gave the twelve authority and then told them to travel light. You didn’t send them unprepared — You sent them dependent. Teach me that dependence, trusting that Your authority is the only resource that ultimately matters. I go in Your name.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Traveling Light
Today's habit is an act of trust-filled obedience: identify one thing you have been telling yourself you need before you can take a step of faith
- more confidence, more money, more time, more certainty - and take the step today without it. Write down what you've been waiting for. Then write down the step you've been putting off. Then take it. Before you go, pray: "Jesus, I've been waiting for what I think I need. But You are sending me now, as I am, with what I have. I trust Your authority over my insufficiency. I go."
I have one ask of you before you go, could you please share this podcast with one person today? One person at a time will grow this podcast to help more people walk with Jesus.
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard…share it and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
