Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s an honor to be here with you today.
Today is March 9.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with Jesus.
Set aside the distractions of your day.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Father, I’m listening.”
As you exhale, pray: “Show me Jesus.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.
Read
So the Jewish leaders began harassing Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules. But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.” So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For he not only broke the Sabbath, he called God his Father, thereby making himself equal with God. (John 5:16–18, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear the passage again slowly, listening for what God is speaking to you.
Meditate
Jesus’ healing on the Sabbath triggers conflict. The leaders see rule‑breaking; Jesus sees His Father’s ongoing work of mercy and restoration.
“My Father is always working, and so am I.”
Jesus is not acting independently or carelessly. He’s aligned with the heart and activity of the Father. Healing a broken life on the Sabbath is not a violation of God’s character; it reveals it.
John tells us this is why the leaders want to kill Him: He breaks their understanding of the Sabbath and calls God His Father, making Himself equal with God. Jesus is not just a teacher or healer; He is the Son, fully sharing in the Father’s work.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where do I need to trust that the Father and the Son are “always working,” even when I don’t understand what’s happening?
Respond
Jesus, thank You that You are one with the Father and that You are always working, even when I can’t see it.
Forgive me for the times I’ve limited You to my expectations.
Help me rest in the truth that Your work is good, even when it disrupts my plans.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Help Carry a Load
Today, watch for someone who is carrying a literal or figurative “heavy load.”
It could be groceries, boxes, work responsibilities, or emotional stress.
Offer practical help—carry something, lend a hand, or listen for a few minutes—and silently pray:
“Father, let this small act reflect the way You carry me.”
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
