2 Minute Disciple | Daily Devotional Podcast

Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 58 — Mark 2:1–5 — Faith That Finds a Way

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s a pleasure to be here with you today.
Today is February 27.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

Jesus is here. He’s sitting in your favorite spot, waiting for you to join Him.
You may have a million things on your mind, but for these few moments, set them aside. Relax. Calm your body.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Lord, grow my faith.”
As you exhale, pray: “Help me bring others to You.”
Repeat this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.

Read

When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”  (Mark 2:1–5, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a phrase or truth that speaks directly to you?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.

Reread

Hear the passage again slowly.
Be mindful of what God may be speaking to your heart right now.

Meditate

The crowd was so dense that there was no way through the door. But these friends refused to let the obstacle stop them. They climbed to the roof, dug through it, and lowered their friend right in front of Jesus.
Their determination speaks volumes — they believed that if they could just get him to Jesus, everything could change. Faith doesn’t always take the easy route; sometimes it digs through roofs.

Their faith resulted in what was needed most by their friend, forgiveness.
We all carry around the weight of sin and it breaks us down, fractures our lives and leaves us paralyzed. We all long for the words that Jesus spoke to the man, “your sins are forgiven.” Jesus freed this man from the weight of his sin because of the faith of his friends.
This story challenges us to consider: Do we have that kind of faith — the kind that finds a way to bring our friends to Jesus for forgiveness and wholeness, no matter the barriers?
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Who in my life needs me to help carry them to Jesus, and what “roof” might I need to break through to do it?

Respond

Lord, give me the courage and creativity to bring others to You for forgiveness, no matter the obstacles.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
*Habit: Break Through *
Identify one barrier keeping someone you know from Jesus — it could be discouragement, loneliness, or lack of connection.
