2 Minute Disciple | Daily Devotional Podcast

Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 57 — Luke 5:14–16 — Testimony and Time with the Father

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and I'm thrilled to be here with you today. Today is February 26.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

Jesus is glad you’re here. He longs to spend time with you. He loves you deeply and wants to be in your presence.
Take a moment to pause, quiet your mind, and turn your attention toward Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Lord, guide my life.”
As you exhale, pray: “Let my actions testify.”
Repeat this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.

Read

Then Jesus instructed him not to tell anyone what had happened. He said, “Go to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.”
But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.  (Luke 5:14–16, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a phrase or truth that speaks directly to you?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.

Reread

Hear the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him.

Meditate

The man’s healing was not just physical — it restored him to community, worship, and life. Jesus wanted that restoration to be confirmed publicly by the priest, making his testimony official.
But as word spread, crowds pressed in, hungry for truth and healing. In the midst of the excitement, Jesus chose something unexpected — He withdrew to pray. Even with the demands of ministry, He prioritized time with the Father.
This is a picture of balance: living in a way that testifies to God’s work, while staying rooted in relationship with Him. Without prayer, testimony loses power; without testimony, prayer loses its outward impact.
Reflect on this question:
How can I balance living out my testimony with staying deeply connected to God in prayer?

Respond

Lord, let my life testify to Your work, and keep me grounded in You through prayer.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Testify in Action
Today, choose one action that reflects God’s work in your life — it could be forgiving someone, serving quietly, or encouraging a friend.
Then, set aside a few minutes to pray, thanking God for what He’s done and asking Him to guide your testimony.

Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
