Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 48 — Mark 1:29–34 — Jesus in the House

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s an honor to be here with you today. Today is February 17.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

Jesus is here.
He’s waiting for you to join Him.
Set aside the noise and busyness for these few moments.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus come in.”
As you exhale, pray: “Bring Your healing.”
Repeat this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

After Jesus left the synagogue with James and John, they went to Simon and Andrew’s home.
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. They told Jesus about her right away.
So he went to her bedside, took her by the hand, and helped her sit up. Then the fever left her, and she prepared a meal for them.
That evening after sunset, many sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus.
The whole town gathered at the door to watch.
So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons. But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak.
(Mark 1:29–34, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a phrase or truth that speaks directly to you?

Reread

Hear the passage again slowly, imagining the home, the people, and the atmosphere of hope..

Meditate

Picture the scene: you’ve just left the synagogue, still processing the authority in Jesus’ teaching. You arrive at Simon and Andrew’s home, expecting a meal and conversation — but instead you find Simon’s mother-in-law sick in bed, her face pale, her body weak.
Without hesitation, Jesus goes to her. He takes her hand — a simple, human touch — and lifts her up. As He does, the fever leaves instantly. Strength floods back into her body, and she moves with renewed energy, serving the guests.
That evening, the quiet street outside the house transforms into a crowd. People bring their sick, their hurting, their demon-oppressed. The air is thick with desperation and hope. One by one, Jesus meets them — touching, speaking, healing.
It’s a reminder that Jesus’ authority isn’t distant or abstract. It’s personal. He steps into our homes, our pain, and our need with compassion and power.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where do I need to invite Jesus into my “home” — the personal spaces of my life — to bring healing and hope?

Respond

Lord, I invite You into every corner of my life. Bring Your healing touch where it’s needed most.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Open the Door
Today, intentionally open the “door” of your life to Jesus in a specific area — it could be a relationship, a struggle, or a decision.
Pause and pray: “Jesus, I welcome You here.”
Then, look for a way to extend His welcome to someone else — through a kind word, a helping hand, or an invitation to pray together.
