Hey Everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it is fabulous to be here with you today. Today is February 12.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
Jesus is glad you’re here. He longs to spend time with you. He loves you deeply and wants to be in your presence.
Take a moment to pause, quiet your mind, and turn your attention toward Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Oh my soul.”
As you exhale, pray: “Praise the Lord.”
Repeat this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.
Read
He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah:
“In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali,
beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River,
in Galilee where so many Gentiles live,
the people who sat in darkness
have seen a great light.
And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow,
a light has shined.” (Matthew 4:13–16, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage? Is there a phrase or truth that speaks directly to you? Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him.
Meditate
Matthew reminds us that Jesus fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy — He is the great light shining in the land of darkness. Light changes everything: it reveals what’s hidden, brings warmth, and gives direction.
When Jesus’ light shines into the dark places of our lives, it exposes what needs healing and fills us with hope. But His light isn’t meant to stop with us — we are called to reflect it. In a world where many are walking in shadows of fear, confusion, or despair, even a small reflection of His light can make a difference.
Sometimes we underestimate the power of simple acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or moments of compassion. These are the ways we carry His light into the everyday darkness around us.
Reflect on this question:
Where in my life do I need Jesus’ light to shine, and how can I reflect that light to someone else today?
Respond
Lord, shine Your light into every dark place in my heart.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Acts of Kindness — Pick up something someone drops today. It may seem small, but it’s a tangible way to reflect Jesus’ light. Offer a kind word or smile as you help. If the opportunity arises, let them know you wanted to brighten their day because God’s light has brightened yours. These small mom ents can open doors for bigger conversations about the source of that light.
