Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s awesome to be here with you today.
Today is August 22.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

We carry so much around every day — financial worries, relational stress, anxiety about the future, and the pressure to succeed.
Now is the time to set those things down for a few minutes and enjoy some time with Jesus.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, You are happy to give.”
As you exhale, pray: “I’m storing my treasure in heaven.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

“So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
“Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
(Luke 12:32–34, NLT)

Reread

Hear this passage again — and notice what Jesus says about treasure.

Meditate

"Don't be afraid, little flock."
That's how Jesus opens this passage. Not with a command. Not with a warning. With tenderness.
Little flock. It's an image of intimacy — a shepherd who knows his sheep, who sees their smallness and their vulnerability, who speaks to them with care rather than contempt.
And then He says something that should stop us in our tracks: "It gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom."
Not reluctance. Not obligation. Great happiness. The Father delights in giving. He is not withholding. He is not waiting for you to earn it. He is eager — joyfully, generously eager — to give you everything that belongs to His Kingdom.
So if that's true — if the Father is that generous, that eager, that happy to give — then why are we clinging so tightly to what we have?
That's the question underneath Jesus's next instruction: "Sell your possessions and give to those in need."
This isn't a command to poverty. It's a command to freedom. Jesus is saying: loosen your grip. Stop clinging to earthly treasure as if it's what keeps you safe. Because it isn't. Purses wear out. Thieves break in. Moths destroy. Everything you've accumulated here is temporary.
But treasure stored in heaven? That's permanent. Eternal. Untouchable.
And then the most revealing line of all: "Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."
Your heart follows your treasure. Not the other way around. You don't give because your heart is already generous — you give, and your heart becomes generous. You invest in the Kingdom, and your heart starts to care about Kingdom things.
Where is your treasure? Because that's where your heart is going.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
What does the way I spend my money and my time reveal about where my real treasure is?

Respond

Father, thank You for the joy You take in giving me Your Kingdom. Help me to loosen my grip on what is temporary. Help me to invest in what is eternal. And help me to trust that wherever I store my treasure, my heart will follow. I want my heart to be in heaven — so I'm choosing to put my treasure there.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Store Up Treasure
Today's habit is a deliberate act of eternal investment: do one thing today that stores up treasure in heaven rather than on earth.
Jesus is specific: sell your possessions and give to those in need. You don't have to sell everything today. But you can do something. One act of generosity that redirects earthly treasure toward eternal purposes.
Here are some options — pick one and do it today:
💰 Give financially. Make a donation to a ministry, a church, or a person in need. It doesn't have to be large. It just has to be intentional — a deliberate act of saying: I trust God more than I trust my bank account.
🛍 Give possessions. Go through your home and find something of value — something you've been holding onto — and give it away to someone who needs it more than you do.
🕐 Give time. Volunteer somewhere today. Show up for someone who needs help. Invest your hours in people rather than in accumulating more for yourself.
✉️ Give encouragement. Write a note, send a message, or make a call to someone who needs to be reminded that they are seen and valued. Invest in their soul.
Before you give, pray: "Jesus, I'm choosing today to store up treasure in heaven. I'm loosening my grip on _________________. I'm giving _________________ as an act of trust — trusting that Your Kingdom is more secure than anything I could hold onto here. Let my heart follow my treasure. Let it land in the right place."
The purses of heaven never wear out. The treasure you store there is safe forever.
Invest there today.
