Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s fantastic to be here with you today.
Today is August 21.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

Jesus is here. He’s sitting in your favorite spot, waiting for you to join Him.
You may have a million things on your mind, but for these few moments, set them aside. Relax. Calm your body.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, You already know my needs.”
As you exhale, pray: “Let me seek Your Kingdom.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

“Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
“And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.
(Luke 12:27–31, NLT)

Reread

Hear these words again listening for what Jesus is saying to you.

Meditate

Look at the lilies.
Jesus doesn't say think about the lilies or learn from the lilies. He says look. Stop. Actually look at them. Because there's something in the looking that rushing right past will never give you.
The lilies don't work. They don't spin. They don't strategize about their appearance. They simply grow — and in their growing, they become more beautiful than anything Solomon could manufacture with all his wealth and wisdom.
And if God lavishes that kind of care on a flower that's here today and gone tomorrow — how much more is He caring for you?
Then Jesus says something that should stop us completely: "Your Father already knows your needs."
Already. Before you pray. Before you worry. Before you lie awake at three in the morning running through all the ways things could go wrong. He already knows.
So why do we spend so much energy seeking solutions to our problems instead of seeking the Kingdom?
Here's what Jesus is saying: the anxious pursuit of provision is what unbelievers do — people who have no Father, no promise, no relationship with the One who holds everything. But you have a Father who already knows. So your energy can go somewhere else.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else.
What does that look like? It looks like asking every morning: "What is God doing today — and how can I be part of it?" It looks like orienting your decisions around His purposes rather than your fears. It looks like pursuing His righteousness, His justice, His love — trusting that as you do, He will take care of everything you need.
The lilies don't seek their own provision. They seek the sun. And in seeking the sun, they receive everything they need to become what they were made to be.
Seek the Kingdom. And trust that everything else will follow.
Take a few moments to sit with this question:
What would it look like today to seek God's Kingdom first — before I seek solutions to my worries?

Respond

Jesus, I want to seek Your Kingdom above all else. I confess that I spend far more time seeking solutions to my problems than seeking Your purposes. Help me to reorder my priorities. Help me to trust that You already know my needs — and that as I seek You first, You will provide everything I need.

### Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Seek First
Today's habit is a reorientation of your morning: before you check your phone, before you review your to-do list, before you start managing your worries — seek the Kingdom first.
Set aside the first ten minutes of your day — or the next ten minutes if your day has already started — and ask God one question: "What are You doing today, and how can I be part of it?"
Then listen. Write down what comes to mind. It might be a person to reach out to. It might be a decision to make differently. It might be an act of generosity or service. It might be simply a posture of trust rather than anxiety.
Then — and this is the key — let that shape how you approach the rest of your day. Let the Kingdom question come before the worry questions.
Before you begin, pray: "Father, You already know my needs. I don't have to spend this day anxiously seeking provision. So instead, I'm seeking Your Kingdom first. What are You doing today? Where do You want me? How can I be part of what You're building? I'm listening. And I trust that as I seek You first, You will give me everything I need."
The lilies don't seek their own provision. They seek the sun.
Seek the Son today. And trust that everything else will follow.
