Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 89 — Matthew 5:9–10 — Peacemakers and the Persecuted

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s magnificent to be here with you today.
Today is March 30.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you.
Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, make me like You.”
As you exhale, pray: “Give me courage.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.  (Matthew 5:9–10, NLT)

Notice

What phrase stands out?
“Work for peace,” “children of God,” “persecuted for doing right,” or “the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs”?
Hold that phrase with the Lord.

Reread

Hear these Beatitudes again, thinking of real people you know who work for peace or suffer for doing what’s right.

Meditate

Jesus blesses those who “work for peace”—not just wish for it. Peacemaking is active: listening, reconciling, stepping into tension with humility and truth. Such people are called “children of God” because they resemble their Father.
He also blesses those who are persecuted for doing right. When you choose God’s way and suffer for it, He says the Kingdom of Heaven is yours. Your pain is seen, and your loyalty to Him is honored.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Is there a place where Jesus is inviting me either to work for peace, or to stand firm in doing what’s right even if it costs me?

Respond

Jesus, Prince of Peace, thank You for calling me into Your work.
Show me where I can be a peacemaker, and strengthen me when doing right brings pushback.
Help me remember that Your kingdom is worth any cost.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Speak a Genuine Compliment
Today, intentionally give a sincere compliment to someone you meet—a coworker, family member, or stranger.
Let it be specific and real, a small way of sowing peace and encouragement.
As you speak, pray quietly: “Lord, use my words to build up, not tear down.”

That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
