Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 70 — John 5:22–23 — Honoring the Son

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s phenomenal to be here with you today.
Today is March 11.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

Jesus is here.
He’s sitting in your favorite spot, waiting for you to join Him.
You have a million things on your mind that need your attention, but right now it’s time to be with Jesus.
Set those things aside, relax, and calm your body.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, I honor You.”
As you exhale, pray: “Capture my attention.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judge, so that everyone will honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him.  (John 5:22–23, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.

Reread

Hear Jesus’ words again, slowly, as if He’s explaining who He really is and why that matters.

Meditate

Jesus says the Father entrusts judgment to the Son so that everyone will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He’s not just another religious voice; He carries God’s own authority.
To honor the Father is to honor the Son. To dismiss the Son is to miss the Father. Jesus places Himself at the center of how we relate to God.
Honoring Jesus is more than using respectful words—it’s giving Him weight in our decisions, our desires, and our daily rhythms.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
In what area of my life am I treating Jesus lightly, instead of honoring Him as the One with real authority?

Respond

Jesus, You are worthy of the same honor as the Father.
Forgive me for the places where I’ve treated Your words as optional suggestions.
Teach me to honor You with my attention, my choices, and my worship.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
*Habit: Remember What He’s Done *
Today, take a moment to write down three things God has done for you lately.
They can be big or small—answers to prayer, protection, provision, or quiet comfort.
As you write, whisper: “Jesus, I honor You for this,” after each one.

That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
