Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s amazing to be here with you today.
Today is March 6.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you.
Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, speak to me.”
As you exhale, pray: “Give me courage to obey.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.
Read
“I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”
Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”
Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, (John 5:7–9, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear the passage again being mindful of what Jesus is saying to you.
Meditate
When Jesus asks if he wants to be well, the man answers with reasons why he can’t be healed—no one helps him, others get there first. His story is shaped by disappointment and limitation.
Jesus doesn’t debate his explanation. He speaks a new command into his life: “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” His word carries the power to do what He asks.
The man responds. He stands, rolls up the mat that once held him, and begins to walk into a new reality.
Where we feel stuck, our minds often repeat “I can’t.” Jesus meets us there with a different word: “Get up… and walk.”
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where is Jesus inviting me today to move from “I can’t” to one small step of obedience?
Respond
Jesus, You know all the places where I feel like saying, “I can’t.”
Thank You that Your word has power where my strength runs out.
Show me one specific step of obedience today, and give me courage to take it.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: One Small Step
Today, identify one area where you’ve felt stuck.
Ask Jesus: “What is one ‘stand up and walk’ step I can take today?”
It might be a phone call, an apology, a boundary, a prayer, or a moment of honesty with someone you trust.
Take that one step as a response to His voice.
Before you go, I have a simple favor to ask.
