2 Minute Disciple | Daily Devotional Podcast

Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 64 — John 5:1–6 — Do You Want to Be Well?

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s awesome to be here with you today.
Today is March 5.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

We carry so much around every day — financial worries, relational stress, anxiety about the future, and the pressure to succeed.
Now is the time to set those things down for a few minutes and enjoy some time with Jesus.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, I’m here.”
As you exhale, pray: “Open me to Your healing.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” (John 5:1–6, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.

Reread

See the scene in your mind—Jerusalem, the pool, crowds of sick people, and Jesus noticing one man in particular.

Meditate

The pool of Bethesda is full of waiting—people hoping something will finally change. One man has been sick for thirty‑eight years. Jesus sees him and knows how long he has suffered.
Jesus’ question sounds simple: “Would you like to get well?” Yet after so many years, even wanting healing can be complicated. Our pain can become familiar. Change can feel risky.
Jesus invites the man—and us—to bring our desire into the open. Not theories, not explanations, just honest longing.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where in my life is Jesus gently asking, “Would you like to get well?”

Respond

Jesus, You see how long I’ve carried certain struggles and hurts.
Thank You that You know my story and my years.
Give me the courage to be honest with You about where I long to be made well..

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Name Your Desire
Today, set aside two quiet minutes to be completely honest with Jesus.
Answer His question out loud or in writing: “Lord, this is where I want to be well…”
Don’t filter or fix your words—just bring your real desire into His presence.

Before you go, I have a simple favor to ask.
