Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s amazing to be here with you today. Today is February 15 and I have to give a shout out to my amazing wife, Christine, it’s our Anniversary today. Happy Anniversary!
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you.
Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “Lord, fill my nets.”
As you exhale, pray: “I will serve you.”
Do this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.
Read
One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God.
He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets.
Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”
“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”
And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!
A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.
When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me — I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.”
For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him.
His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed.
Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!”
And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.

Notice
What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear the passage again, imagining the heavy nets, the astonished faces, and Jesus’ call.
Meditate
Peter had just finished a long, exhausting night of fishing with nothing to show for it. He was tired, discouraged, and probably ready to go home. Then Jesus tells him to go deeper and let down the nets again.
It didn’t make sense — but Peter obeyed. That obedience led to an overwhelming catch, so large that the nets began to break and the boats began to sink.
In that moment, Peter realized he was standing in the presence of someone far greater than himself. His response was humility and awe: “I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.”But Jesus didn’t push him away — He gave him a new mission: “From now on you’ll be fishing for people.”
This story reminds us that obedience, even when it’s inconvenient or illogical, opens the door to abundance and calling. Sometimes Jesus asks us to go deeper, to try again, to trust Him in areas where we’ve experienced failure — because He’s preparing us for a bigger mission.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where is Jesus asking me to go deeper in faith, and am I willing to leave my familiar nets for His mission?
Respond
Lord, I will follow You into deeper waters and into Your mission.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Go Deeper
Think of an area in your life where you’ve experienced disappointment or feel like you’ve “come up empty” despite your efforts.
Today, invite Jesus into that area and ask Him to guide you to “go deeper” — to trust Him enough to try again His way.
Take one intentional step that reflects this trust: a phone call, a prayer, a new approach, or an act of obedience. As you do, whisper: “Lord, I’m going deeper with You.”
