Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s an honor to be here with you today.
Today is August 3.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

We carry so much around every day — financial worries, relational stress, anxiety about the future, and the pressure to succeed.
Now is the time to set those things down for a few minutes and enjoy some time with Jesus.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, I rejoice.”
As you exhale, pray: “Because my name is registered in heaven.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.”
When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”
“Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

Reread

Hear this passage again — and notice what Jesus says about the true reason for rejoicing.

Meditate

The disciples come back buzzing.
They've been out on the mission. They've preached. They've healed. And — to their own amazement — even the demons obeyed them. They're excited. They're energized. They can't wait to tell Jesus.
"Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!"
And Jesus doesn't dismiss their excitement. He celebrates with them. "I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!" He's rejoicing too.
But then He gently redirects them: "Don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you. Rejoice because your names are registered in heaven."
This is a profound reorientation. The disciples are rejoicing in what they can do — in their power, their effectiveness, their results. And Jesus is saying: that's not your deepest reason for joy.
Your deepest reason for joy is not what you do for God. It's what God has done for you.
Your name is registered in heaven. Not because of your ministry success. Not because of your spiritual power. But because of grace. Because Jesus went to the cross. Because your name was written in the Lamb's book of life.
That joy can never be taken away. A bad day in ministry can't touch it. A season of failure can't erase it. Even death can't remove it.
Take a few moments to sit with this question:
Is my joy anchored in what I do for God — or in what God has done for me?

Respond

Jesus, I rejoice because my name is registered in heaven. That is enough. That is everything. Help me to anchor my joy there and let it hold me through every season.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Anchored Joy
Today's habit is an act of reoriented rejoicing: examine what your joy is currently anchored to.
Are you rejoicing because things are going well? Because your ministry is bearing fruit? Because people are responding? Because you feel spiritually effective? These are good things — but they're not your deepest reason for joy.
Or are you discouraged because things aren't going well? Because you feel ineffective? Because the mission feels hard and the results feel small? If your joy rises and falls with your circumstances or your effectiveness, it's anchored in the wrong place.
Jesus is inviting you to anchor your joy somewhere unshakeable: your name is registered in heaven.
Speak this out loud today — in your car, in a quiet room, wherever you can find a moment: "My name is registered in heaven. Not because of what I've done. Because of what Jesus did. And nothing can change that."
Then pray: "Jesus, I choose to rejoice today because You have written my name in heaven. That is my deepest reason for joy. Anchor me there. Let that truth hold me when everything else feels uncertain."
