Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 35 — John 3:29–36 — Bringing Jesus Into Focus

Welcome to 2 Minute Disciple — where we slow down with Jesus, one passage at a time.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

Jesus is here.
He’s waiting for you to join Him.
Set aside the noise and busyness for these few moments.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “I believe.”
As you exhale, pray: “In You, Jesus.”
Repeat this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the bridegroom’s friend is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. HE MUST BECOME GREATER AND GREATER, AND I MUST BECOME LESS AND LESS.
“He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else. He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them! Anyone who accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true. For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit. The Father loves his Son and has put everything into his hands. And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”  (John 3:29–36, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a phrase or truth that speaks directly to you?

Reread

Hear the passage again slowly, letting the words sink deep into your heart.

Meditate

Using a manual focus camera, you adjust the lens until the subject comes into perfect clarity, and everything else fades into the background.
John the Baptist knew that Jesus must be the focus — everything else, including himself, needed to blur into the background.
When Jesus becomes our focus, our priorities shift, our perspective changes, and our lives align with His purposes.
Take a few moments to reflect on this truth:
Is Jesus in sharp focus in my life, or have other things crowded Him out?

Respond

Jesus, help me to bring You into focus in my life and let everything else fade into the background.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Encouragement Text
Words of encouragement can refocus someone’s heart on Jesus.
Today:
Think of one person who might be struggling or feeling overlooked.
Send them a text with a Scripture, a prayer, or a simple “I’m thinking of you.”
If possible, follow up with a call or coffee invite to encourage them face-to-face.
