2 Minute Disciple | Daily Devotional Podcast

Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 25 — Luke 4:13–15 — Powered by the Holy Spirit

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it is spectacular to be here with you today. Today is January 25.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

We carry so much around every day — financial worries, relational stress, anxiety about the future, and the pressure to succeed.
Now is the time to set those things down for a few minutes and enjoy some time with Jesus.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. Repeat this three times.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “God is near.”
As you exhale, pray: “Near to me.”
Do this three times, then sit in silence for a few moments.

Read

When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came.
Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.  (Luke 4:13–15, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.

Reread

Now hear the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him.

Meditate

The phrase that jumps off the page to me is: “Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power.”
His ministry is powered by the Holy Spirit.
Everything He does from this point forward is not done by human willpower, but by the Spirit’s power.
If God in the flesh relied on the Holy Spirit to do ministry, why do I sometimes try to do ministry in my own strength?
This convicts me.
God could do so much more in and through me if I surrendered fully to the Holy Spirit and allowed Him to power my life and ministry.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
What power am I relying on to live the Christian life?

Respond

Lord, I’m sorry for trying to go on my own when You’ve shown me what life looks like when it’s powered by Your Spirit.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Carpool Karaoke Worship **
Listening to music while driving is a time-honored tradition — and singing along is too!
Today, make your commute a time for worship.
Pick a worship playlist and sing along to God.
Don’t worry if you can’t sing — He doesn’t care what you sound like; He just wants your worship.
**The goal is to worship God while you travel, turning ordinary moments into sacred ones.

That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
