Each day, we follow a simple rhythm:
Slow down…
Read…
Notice…
Reread…
Meditate…
Respond…
and
Exercise, taking a small step to live out what we’ve heard.
It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and meet Jesus in His Word — so He can shape our hearts and guide our day.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus. He wants to meet with you and spend time with you. Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. Repeat this three times.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “The Word was with God.”
As you exhale, pray: “The Word was God.”
Do this three times, ask God to speak to you, then sit in silence for a few moments.
I’ll be reading from John 1:1-5 in the NLT
Read
In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God.
God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.
(John 1:1–5, NLT)
Notice
What are you hearing from God? What stands out to you in this passage? Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention? Write it down in your journal or just bring it to the front of your mind.
Reread
Now let’s read the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him.
Meditate
The grand story of God is one of nearness. He was here in the beginning and created everything in order to be in close relationship with all that He breathed life into. Jesus is the culmination of that desire to be close to those whom He created. The God who created everything is here to be with us and shine the light that can never be extinguished.
Take a few moments to reflect on this truth: God desires to be close to his creation.
Respond
God be close to me today, open my eyes to see your presence and soften my heart to be receptive to you…
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Light Your World
Nothing lights up a room better than a smile. A genuine smile can warm hearts and lift spirits.
Whenever you enter a room, smile at the first person you see. Notice how it changes the atmosphere.
Share the light of Christ with the world through something as simple as a smile.
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today. Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it. Whether it’s a prayer in the moment, a smile to light someone’s world, or a helping hand —let God’s Word shape your steps.
Remember, discipleship isn’t just something we learn…it’s something we live.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
