Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s an honor to be here with you today.
Today is May 8.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you.
Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Jesus, Your kingdom is here.”
As you exhale, pray: “Open my eyes to see what You are doing.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.
Read
Then a demon-possessed man, who was blind and couldn’t speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed the man so that he could both speak and see. The crowd was amazed and asked, “Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?”
But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said, “No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”
Jesus knew their thoughts and replied, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart. And if Satan is casting out Satan, he is divided and fighting against himself. His own kingdom will not survive. And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said. But if I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you. (Matthew 12:22–28, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear these words again — and let the final sentence land with its full weight: the Kingdom of God has arrived among you.
Meditate
The same miracle, two completely different responses. The crowd is amazed and begins to wonder — Could this be the Messiah? The Pharisees see the same thing and reach for the darkest possible explanation. Both groups are standing in front of undeniable power. Only one is open to where it might be coming from.
Jesus doesn’t just defend Himself — He makes a declaration. If I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you. Not is coming someday. Not will arrive eventually. Has arrived. Right now. In this moment. In this healing. In this man who can suddenly see and speak.
The kingdom of God is not primarily a future event to wait for — it is a present reality to recognize and enter. Every time darkness is pushed back, every time the broken are made whole, every time the captive is set free — the kingdom is arriving. Jesus is its carrier. And wherever He is at work, the kingdom comes with Him.
This is the life we are invited into — not just waiting for a future kingdom, but participating in its present arrival. Seeing what Jesus sees. Doing what He does. Pushing back darkness in His name and by His Spirit.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
Where do I see the Kingdom of God arriving in my life or in the lives of people around me — and am I paying attention to it?
Respond
Jesus, open my eyes to see where You are already at work around me.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Kingdom Eyes
— Look for One Sign of God’s Kingdom at Work Around You Today
Today’s habit is a practice of holy attention: go through your day with your eyes open for one sign of God’s kingdom at work around you — and when you see it, name it and give thanks.
It might be a moment of unexpected reconciliation. A conversation where the gospel opens naturally. A person set free from something that had held them. A quiet act of sacrificial love. A prayer answered in a way you didn’t expect. The kingdom arrives in all kinds of ways — some dramatic, many quiet.
When you see it, pause and pray: “Lord, I see what You are doing here. Thank You. Your kingdom is coming — and it is good.”
This simple practice, done daily, will gradually transform the way you see the world — from a place where God is absent or distant, to a place where He is constantly, quietly, powerfully at work.
