Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s an honor to be here with you today.
Today is April 14.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
You are stepping into a sacred space with Jesus.
Set aside the distractions of your day.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it.
As you inhale, whisper: “Our Father.”
As you exhale, pray: “Your kingdom come.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.
Read
Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need,
and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don’t let us yield to temptation,
but rescue us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:9–13, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage?
Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention?
Hold it in your heart for a moment.
Reread
Hear this prayer again — slowly, as if for the first time. Let each phrase land before moving to the next.
Meditate
When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, He didn’t give them a theology lecture. He gave them a prayer. And every line of it is worth a lifetime of reflection.
It begins with Our Father — not a distant deity, not an impersonal force, but a Father. And not just my Father — our Father. From the very first word, we are reminded that we come to God together, as family.
Then it moves outward before it moves inward: Your name. Your kingdom. Your will. Before we ask for anything, we orient ourselves toward God — His holiness, His reign, His purposes. This reordering of priorities is itself a form of transformation.
Only then do we bring our needs: daily bread, forgiveness, protection from temptation and evil. And notice that even here, the personal is tied to the communal — give us, forgive us, lead us. We don’t pray alone.
This prayer is a template, not a script. Jesus is teaching us a shape — a way of approaching God that starts with worship, moves through surrender, and arrives at honest need.
Take a few moments to pray through it slowly, line by line, making each phrase your own.
Respond
Father, thank You for not leaving us to figure out prayer on our own. Teach me to pray this prayer not as a recitation but as a living conversation — with my whole heart oriented toward You, Your kingdom, and Your will. Today, may Your name be honored in everything I do.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Praying the Lord’s Prayer
— Pray It Slowly, Line by Line, at Least Once Today
Today’s habit is ancient and simple: pray the Lord’s Prayer — but slowly. Not as a recitation you rush through, but as a guided conversation, pausing at each phrase and letting it become your own prayer in your own words.
Try it like this:
“Our Father in heaven…” — pause.
Who is this God you’re addressing? What does it mean that He is your Father?
“May Your name be kept holy…” — pause.
Where in your life today do you want to honor His name?
“May Your kingdom come, Your will be done…” — pause.
Where do you need to surrender your agenda to His?
“Give us today the food we need…” — pause.
What do you need from Him today — practically, emotionally, spiritually?
“Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…” — pause.
Is there anything to confess? Anyone to forgive?
“Don’t let us yield to temptation, rescue us from the evil one…” — pause.
Where do you need His protection today?
Spend two or three minutes with it. Let it be slow. Let it be real.
I have one ask of you before you go, could you please share this podcast with one person today? One person at a time will grow this podcast to help more people walk with Jesus.
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard…share it and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
