Slow down. Meet Jesus. Let His Word shape your day.

Day 108 — Matthew 6:25–34 — Do Not Worry

Hey everybody, welcome to the podcast, I’m Nick and it’s magnificent to be here with you today.
Today is April 18.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm: Slow Down, Read, Notice, Reread, Meditate, Respond, and Exercise.
Let’s begin.

Slow Down

You are stepping into a sacred space with the intent of meeting Jesus.
He wants to meet with you and spend time with you.
Take this moment to slow down, quiet your mind, and prepare your heart to connect with Him.
As you inhale, whisper: “Father, You provide.”
As you exhale, pray: “I release my worry to You.”
Do this three times, then rest in His presence.

Read

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God* above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.  (Matthew 6:25–34, NLT)

Notice

What stands out to you in this passage? Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention? Hold it in your heart for a moment.

Reread

Hear these words again, not as a dismissal of your real concerns, but as the tender voice of a Father who is fully aware of everything you need — and who is asking you to trust Him with it..

Meditate

Jesus doesn’t say worry is understandable — He says don’t do it. That might feel unrealistic at first. But look at what He grounds His command in: the character of your Father.
Birds don’t worry, and God feeds them. Wildflowers don’t strive, and God clothes them more beautifully than Solomon. And you — Jesus says — are worth far more than birds or flowers. If God tends to them with such extravagance, what does that tell you about how He tends to you?
Worry, at its root, is a failure of trust. It’s the heart saying: I’m not sure God is really paying attention. I’m not sure He’ll come through. I’d better take this into my own hands. Jesus gently but directly calls that out — and invites us back to faith.
The alternative to worry isn’t passivity — it’s seeking. Seek the Kingdom of God first. Put your energy into what matters most, and trust God with the rest. That’s not naivety. That’s faith grounded in the proven faithfulness of God.
Take a few moments to reflect on this question:
What worry am I carrying right now that Jesus is asking me to release into my Father’s hands?

Respond

Father, You already know what I need today — every practical concern, every uncertainty about tomorrow. I confess that I’ve been carrying worry that belongs in Your hands. I choose right now to seek Your kingdom first and trust You with the rest. Not because everything is certain, but because You are.

Exercise

The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Write Down Your Worries and Then Hand Them to God
Today’s habit is a tangible prayer practice: take two minutes to write down the worries that are most present in your mind right now — finances, relationships, health, the future. Get them out of your head and onto paper.
Then, when you’ve written them out, hold the paper in your hands, and pray: “Father, I am handing these to You. You already know every one of them. You are not surprised, and You are not overwhelmed. I trust You with what I cannot control.”
Some people find it helpful to physically crumple the paper or fold it as a gesture of release — a small, embodied act of surrender.
You may need to do this more than once today. That’s okay. Every time worry rises back up, return to this moment: “I already gave that to You, Father. It’s Yours.”

I have one ask of you before you go, could you please share this podcast with one person today? One person at a time will grow this podcast to help more people walk with Jesus.
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard…share it and live it.
Until next time, keep slowing down, keep listening, and keep walking with Jesus.
