Today is January 10, I’m Nick and it is so nice to be here with you today.
Each day, we follow a simple rhythm:
Slow down…
Read…
Notice…
Reread…
Meditate…
Respond…
and Exercise, take a small step to live out what we’ve heard.
It’s a moment to pause, breathe, and meet Jesus in His Word — so He can shape our hearts and guide our day.
Let’s begin.
Slow Down
Jesus is here. He is waiting on you to meet with him. Are you ready to meet with him? Take a moment to pause, quiet your mind, and turn your attention toward Jesus.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release it. Repeat this three times.
As you inhale, whisper in your heart: “I have seen”
As you exhale, pray: “Your salvation”
Do this three times, Ask God to speak, then sit in silence for a few moments.
Read
Eight days later, when the baby was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel even before he was conceived.
Then it was time for their purification offering, as required by the law of Moses after the birth of a child; so his parents took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. The law of the Lord says, “If a woman’s first child is a boy, he must be dedicated to the Lord.” So they offered the sacrifice required in the law of the Lord—“either a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”
At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him and had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. That day the Spirit led him to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying,
“Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace,
as you have promised.
I have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared for all people.
He is a light to reveal God to the nations,
and he is the glory of your people Israel!”
(Luke 2:21-32, NLT)
Notice
What stands out to you in this passage? Is there a word or phrase that catches your attention? Write it down in your journal or here.
Reread
Now read the passage again slowly, being mindful of what God is wanting you to hear from Him.
Meditate
Waiting has never been my strong suit. When it comes to waiting, I wouldn’t describe myself as eager—I’m more anxious. If I know something is coming, I often find myself worrying instead of anticipating with joy. The longer I have to wait, the more I start to doubt whether it will even happen.
But Simeon’s example challenges me. This passage tells us that he waited for God’s promised Messiah with eager expectation. He didn’t let the passing years dampen his hope; instead, he looked forward to seeing what God would do. One day, led by the Spirit, he found himself in the right place at the right time. When he saw the baby Jesus, he took Him in his arms and praised God. Simeon’s eager waiting was rewarded—he held God’s promise in his hands.
Take a few moments to reflect on this truth:
God’s promises are worth waiting for with eager hope—because He always fulfills what He has spoken.
Respond
God, help me to have the same attitude about waiting as Simeon did and thank you for keeping your promises.
Exercise
The rush of life will meet you again when you leave this sacred place—but you can carry this moment into your day by forming new habits.
Habit: Sticky Note Scripture
Sticky notes aren’t just for reminders—they can be powerful tools to help us keep God’s Word in front of us. Today, let’s use them to anchor Scripture in our hearts.
Grab a sticky note (or two) and write down one of the example verses below. Place it somewhere you’ll see often—on your mirror, desk, refrigerator, or computer screen. Each time you notice it, pause to read the verse slowly and let it sink in. Over time, you’ll find that the words will come to mind right when you need them most.
Example Scriptures:
Proverbs 3:5–6
Philippians 3:1
Psalm 23:1
1 John 3:16
The goal is simple: let Scripture “stick” in your mind so it can be lived out in your daily life.
That’s your two minutes with Jesus for today.
Now, take what you’ve heard… and live it.
Whether it’s a prayer in the moment, a smile to light someone’s world, or a helping hand —
let God’s Word shape your steps.
Remember, discipleship isn’t just something we learn…
it’s something we live.
Until next time,
keep slowing down,
keep listening,
and keep walking with Jesus.
