About this Episode

In Episode 235, hosted by Christine, we explore John 10:22-30 and one of the most searching and reassuring exchanges in all of John's Gospel. It's winter in Jerusalem—the Festival of Dedication, Hanukkah—and Jesus is walking through Solomon's Colonnade in the Temple. The people surround Him with a question that reveals both their frustration and their hunger: "How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." They want a declaration. They want certainty. They want the proof delivered in a single, unmistakable statement that will settle the question once and for all. Through guided meditation, discover what Jesus says in response. He hasn't been withholding. He hasn't been playing games or speaking in riddles to frustrate them. He has already told them—repeatedly, clearly, in words and in works. "The proof is the work I do in my Father's name." The evidence is right in front of them—healing the sick, opening blind eyes, raising the dead, teaching with an authority no one has ever heard before. The works speak for themselves. But then Jesus says something that explains everything and cuts to the heart of the matter: "You don't believe me because you are not my sheep." The problem isn't a lack of evidence. It's a lack of relationship. The crowd is looking for proof. But Jesus is offering something far more profound than proof—He's offering belonging. His sheep hear His voice. They know Him. They follow Him. And because of that relationship—that intimate, personal, ongoing connection—they receive everything He offers. Eternal life. Security. The unbreakable grip of the Father's hand. This episode explores the breathtaking promise Jesus makes to His sheep: "No one can snatch them from the Father's hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father's hand. The Father and I are one." Sit with that for a moment. No one can snatch you. Not your failures. Not your doubts. Not your worst days or your darkest seasons. Not the enemy. Not the weight of your past. Not even death itself. If you belong to Jesus—if you are one of His sheep—you are held in the Father's hand. And the Father is more powerful than anyone or anything that could ever threaten your security. This is the security the crowd was looking for in a declaration. But Jesus says it can only be found in a relationship. You don't find security by getting the right answer about Jesus. You find it by knowing Him—by hearing His voice, by following Him, by belonging to Him. Learn what it means to be one of Jesus' sheep in practice—to listen for His voice, to follow where He leads, and to rest in the unshakeable security of the Father's grip. Discover the practice of intentional listening—setting aside stillness to hear Jesus speak—and experience the peace that comes from knowing you are held by the One who is more powerful than anyone else.
