2 minute disciple, bible study, christian podcast, daily devotional, discipleship, divine timing, faith journey, god's plan, god's timing, john 7, patience, spiritual meditation, surrender, trusting god, waiting on god
Discover the power of divine timing in this transformative study of John 7:2-9. When Jesus' own brothers pressure Him to go public and perform miracles, He responds: "Now is not the right time for me to go." This episode explores how God's timing is radically different from the world's timing—and why that's actually good news. Learn why rushing ahead of God's plan undermines everything you're trying to accomplish, and why waiting is sometimes the most faithful, obedient thing you can do. Discover how Jesus moved according to a divine timeline that gave His mission eternal significance, and how the same principle applies to your life. Through contemplative meditation and honest reflection, identify where you're forcing timing and pressuring doors to open, and find the courage to surrender your timeline to God's. This episode will transform how you approach goals, dreams, and the callings God has placed on your life.

Episode 393: Come Follow Me | Luke 9:57-62 | 2 Minute Disciple Podcast Ep. 188
Episode | July 9th, 2026 | Season 5 | 8 mins 3 secs
2 minute disciple, bible study, christian podcast, daily devotional, discipleship, faith journey, following jesus, letting go, luke 9, radical faith, spiritual growth, spiritual meditation, surrender, total commitment, trusting god
In Episode 188, we explore Luke 9:57-62 and Jesus' radical call to total commitment. Jesus encounters three different people, each with a different response to His invitation to follow. The first person declares: "I will follow you wherever you go"—it sounds like complete commitment. But Jesus responds with a reality check: "Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head." Jesus is asking: Do you understand what you're signing up for? Following me means releasing security, comfort, and certainty. The second person Jesus directly calls: "Come, follow me." The man agrees, but then adds a condition: "First let me return home and bury my father." It sounds reasonable, even honoring. But Jesus responds with stark clarity: "Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God." Jesus is not being harsh—He's being clear: you cannot follow me with conditions. You cannot say "yes, but first." The third person says: "Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family." Again, it sounds reasonable. But Jesus responds: "Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God." The image is powerful—a farmer plowing a field cannot look back, or the plow will veer off course. Through guided meditation, discover the pattern: Each person wants to follow Jesus on their own terms. Each person has a "but first." And Jesus consistently calls them to undivided allegiance. This doesn't mean abandoning your family or neglecting responsibilities—it means that nothing comes before your commitment to Jesus and His kingdom. This episode challenges you to identify your own "but first"—the condition you're placing on your following of Jesus. What are you waiting to do before you fully commit? What are you holding onto? Learn why following Jesus requires releasing the need to see the whole path ahead. The first disciples couldn't see the resurrection, Pentecost, or the global church that would bear their witness. All they could do was follow. And the same is true for you. You don't need to see the whole path—you just need to take the next step. Discover how to put your hand to the plow, never look back, and follow Jesus into the unknown with confidence.

Through guided meditation, discover why Peter's impulse to build shelters represents our tendency to capture, control, and hold onto spiritual experiences rather than follow Jesus into what comes next. Learn the difference between camping in past encounters with God and actively listening to His voice in the present moment. This episode challenges you to release your grip on mountaintop experiences and trust Jesus enough to follow Him down into the valley, the ordinary, and even the hard places—knowing that His glory remains constant even when we cannot see it.
